JoplinTrails Coalition Meeting minutes January 29, 2009 President Perry Johnson called the meeting to order at 640 pm. 2009 Membership Renewals need to be emailed out. The Sectretary will see that they are emailed to all on our email list. More donations are needed as far as food for the 2009 maple leaf ride. We need to find a restaurant that will cater the end of ride meal at no cost to us. More riders are needed as we need to bring in as much money as possible as there's no further funding available at this time through MODOT. We received 8 bids for phase one (3.5 miles) of the Ruby Jack. Waiting on Carthage to approve at their next meeting. 37,000 sq ft of herbicide is needed for the trail. Mike Clower in Neosho may be able to help with this. We have the applicator just in need of the herbicide itself. There’s a guide wire at leggett and platt that will need to be relocated. A fund-raising goal thermometer will be created for the website. Instead of a thermometer we will use the trail to show how far we can go with the current donations. Also create a map of the trail showing competed sections. More business' in the area are needed to link to us. More web traffic and awareness of our organatzion will bring in more donations. Joplin globe and the Carthage press need to be notified of our meeting dates. There are 2 homeless camps at the south end of the Frisco. Police need to be notified. There's no gates at 17th and Frisco.. crosswalk stripes are also needed at Frisco road crossings. A membership drive is also planned for early spring on the Frisco. Consider starting Phase 3 of the Ruby Jack in Carl Junction and moving east. Safe paths to school may help with this phase. Many railroad ties remain. Verification with the lawyer needs to be done before we can sell them. The scavenger company has had plenty of time to remove them. The power point and the 5013c letter are all available on from the website. Our next meeting will be March 3rd, 2009. The meeting was adjourned at 755 pm
