Joplin Trails Coalition Minutes of August 28, 2008 President Perry Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:30pm. The meeting notes from the July 26, 2008 meeting were approved. We are already receiving Maple Leaf applications. We are receiving payments over pay pal and thru the mail. We are also getting new memberships via pay-pal. A motion was made to renew our membership with the Missouri Bicycle Federation. Maple leaf is fast approaching. We need to arrange for food, t-shirts and rest stop staffing. We also need to mark the route on the pavement. The t-shirts need to include our website address. Various members were assigned the tasks of contacting David Marten for maps, arranging for toilets, checking on maple grove rest stop and emailing last years riders. A motion was made to form a committee for getting Maple Leaf sponsors. 3 levels of sponsorship, bronze, silver and gold. Free membership to jtc with sponsorship. We will contact last year’s sponsors. The bike rodeo is a go. Helmets are being donated by Kellogg Lake. A fee hike is being considered for 2009 Maple Leaf with a t-shirt guarantee. The new Frisco Greenway sign is in place at St Louis and Zora. The Ruby Jack sign will be installed in Carthage in time for our bbq and membership drive scheduled for Sept 20th at 11am. We are ready to have engineering bids on phase 2 of the Ruby Jack. We need to contact 3 different engineers. An asphalt spreader would be best to use in order to minimize material waste. Oronogo has a grader that we could possibly use. President Perry Johnson has secured a grant writer to help with Ruby Jack construction. We need more “no motorized vehicle” signs. A motion was made to remove the Frisco Trail bridge bollards and install gates at St Louis. The gates need to be wide to allow for buggies. The next meeting is set for Sept. 18th at Pizza By Stout 6:30pm. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15pm.
